Frequently Asked Questions

Questions on your mind

It's completely natural to have questions before starting therapy. I've gathered the most common ones here. If there's something you can't find an answer to, feel free to write to me.

How do I start therapy?

Just reaching out to me by WhatsApp or email is enough. In a short first conversation, we talk about what kind of support you're looking for and decide on a day and time together.

How long are sessions, and how often do they happen?

Sessions are usually 45–50 minutes and most often take place once a week. We'll decide on the frequency together, based on what you need.

Is what we talk about confidential?

Yes. What you share in session is confidential. Confidentiality is limited only in legal exceptions, such as a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else, and I'll explain this to you from the start.

Does online therapy really work?

Research suggests that online therapy can be a helpful, supportive way to work for many concerns. What matters most is building a steady, safe working relationship. Sessions are conducted in Turkish.

Can I meet with you from abroad?

Yes. I work with clients living outside Türkiye through online sessions held in Turkish, and we arrange the appointment with your time zone in mind.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. As a psychologist, I don't prescribe medication; I work through a talk-based psychotherapy process. When it would be helpful, I can refer you to a psychiatrist.

What approaches do you work with?

I draw on approaches such as dynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy, and EMDR, bringing them together in an integrative framework based on what each client needs.

What should I do if I'm in an emergency?

These channels are not for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate danger or needs urgent medical help, please call your local emergency number right away (for example 911 in the US/Canada, 999 in the UK, 112 across the EU and Türkiye), and contact your local crisis line.

Didn't find the answer to your question?

You're welcome to ask anything on your mind. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
